A mid 19th Century tazza Urn by Pulham, stamped in the
mould 'Pulham Broxbourne', circa 1850. Plain moulded rim,
lobed body with acanthus leaf moulded handles with circular
socle on a square base.
Pulham's terracotta started to be manufactured around 1820
in London. From 1848 the company moved to Broxbourne in
Hertfordshire where it continued to produce through three
generations until 1914. Production did carry on until the
middle of the 20th Century though in a much reduced capacity.
The company won many medals for the quality of its work
and examples can be seen at Buckingham Palace, Sandringham
and Hampton Court.
