| "Standing
Girl" by Vincent Butler, signed and dated 1977 2/8 in
the cast, mounted upon a granite pedestal.
An elegant standing Nude in relaxed pose, based on the
original modelled in 1975 entitled "Debbie" and
cast by the Gaskin Foundry in 1975/6 (exhibited at the Royal
Scottish Academy.) The original plaster was "somewhat
damaged in transit from the foundry so I remodelled it in
part and struck 3 casts". No further casts were made
and the original plaster has been destroyed.

Vincent Butler Biography
Born in Manchester in 1933. Trained at Edinburgh College
of Art and Bera Academy of Fine Art.
Head of Sculpture at Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria
1960-3.
Lecturer at Edinburgh College of Art 1963-89.
Elected Royal Scottish Academy (RSA)1977.
Elected Royal Glasgow Institute (RGI) 1984.
Published "Casting for Sculptors" 1997.
Recent commissions include a bust of HRH Prince Phillip
and a bust of Lord Sutherland.
