large rare French cast iron Venus at Bath statue cast by the
Antoine Durenne Foundry circa 1870. Signed in the cast "A
DURENNE SOMMEVOIRE".
Antoine Durenne formed a collective foundry at Sommervoire,
Haute Marne, in 1865. He was influential in the preparation
for the universal Paris Exhibition of 1878 and a large fountain
by the company can be seen on the Champs de Mars.
